I was sat late on Sat night, wandering whether to go online and play world of tanks, or grab my new spinning rod and go down to Saltash pontoon and test it in the dark, at low / incoming tide.
Odds stacked against me, but what if I catch? Could lure fishing at night at low tide be the way to do it at this mark? Am I just being daft?
I’ve got the go ahead from the boss that I can go out and play....
Decisions Decisions....
Well I braved it. Got there and fished from 9:30pm to 1am.
Tried all sorts of surface plugs, fished slowly just sub surface, and some rubber jigs, slowly twithced along bottom.
Also tried my bass rod under the tip with some small shiny hockeye things, with the bottom two baited with berklely gulp maddies, and the third painted with 'lug juice', top two left as shiny feathers.
The wind was blowing well downstream, and the tide moving up.
Nothing. Not a sausage. Met antoher chap down there who was trying all sorts of baits and he only had a few small pout.
oh well, worth a try.
