"How to Fish" - Chris Yates
Publisher: Hamish Hamilton Ltd (28 Sep 2006)
ISBN-10: 0241143306
I can thoroughly recommend it.
Its different to the majority of fishing books, as its not exactly a manual, but a journey with the author on his love of fishing and what we as anglers get out of it.
Its a wonderful, pleasant walk along the bank in the true ethos of what angling is about.
Very good indeed.

Diverse collection of mostly historical fishing writings.Sometimes funny, sad, thought provoking or profound.Tends to be more fly fishing stories, but that doesn't make any difference to the feeling of the book. The last few pages really make the book worthwhile.

A Classic I've only just got around to reading.
A raw fishing story, that contains so much more than just the fishing.
A raw fishing story, that contains so much more than just the fishing.
Poignant and sad, there's a stark contrast between the intense poverty of the main character and his determination and strength of character.
The old man lives alone and is seen as a daft old character by the other villagers, but he is friends with a young boy who he has taught to fish and loves him dearly.
The old man goes to sea and does battle with a large fish, as well as battling his own limitations.
An allegory on life? Man Vs environment? The essence of struggle?
A short novella, simply written and smoothly flowing, with a deliberate pace and much to think about.
